RJAE provided architectural and engineering design services for improvements to 20 toll plazas along the expressways throughout Puerto Rico. These modifications include complete remodeling of the rest rooms to provide compliance with ADA and to minimize maintenance. As part of the scope, in the Caguas Norte and Juana Diaz toll plazas, RJAE modified approximately I km of the road configuration in the vicinity of the plazas to accommodate free lanes in one direction and increase the number of pay gates in the other. Also included are several one-story buildings for the maintenance brigades at specific locations. Approximate construction cost is $8,000,000.
