This project constituted the initial phase of Tren Urbano, San Juan Metropolitan area mass rapid transit system, now in progress. Our project consisted of analyzing the fifteen communities surrounding the projected stations. RJAE led the investigation and data collection with the help of the Graduate School of Planning of the University of Puerto Rico. A manual for each of these stations was the end product of this phase.
      The documents were developed to understand the physical, social and economical characteristics of the urban context for the stations along the entire system. The extensive and comprehensive context of these manuals established the base for the design program for each of the train stations. At the same time, these documents were significant in the public policy and potential development in each case.
