RJAE provided design and inspection services for the complete remodeling of the new USPS facilities located at Calaf Street in Hato Rey. Part of the scope was to convert a basic abandoned shell into a new state-of- the-art postal office with retail and carrier distribution capacity including fire protection system, A/C and ventilation system. Also as part of the scope, it was equipped with electrical provision, light and computer systems, closed circuit TV surveillance system, a 40,000 gallon cistern and a 500 KVA emergency power generator. This post office building includes 4,000 postal boxes and a carrier distribution center for 14 routes. The building is 24,000 square feet and has a parking area for 129 cars. This was fast- track design and construction project to be completed within 120 days. Approximate cost of construction is $2,660,000.
